Our vision is to increase consumer access to fresh and nutritious foods in order to build a strong local food system.
Our vision is to increase consumer access to fresh and nutritious foods in order to build a strong local food system.

To increase consumer access and knowledge of fresh and nutritious foods and to build a sustainable food economy. This provides greater food security for all in Caswell County as it supports local farmers while creating jobs and prosperity.
The Caswell County Local Food Council started as a group of community members wanting a farmers’ market in Caswell County to purchase local food and produce. The first market was operated in Semora, North Carolina.
As the Market and scope of work changed, the Caswell County Local Food Council was created and filed for Non-Profit organizational status in 2015 and has operated the Caswell County Farmers Market in Yanceyville. Over the years the organization has expanded its scope to include all aspects of the local food system in Caswell County.

Caswell County Farmers Market will open on April 23, 2026, and run every Thursday 4-6:30 pm until September 17, 2026. There will be two holiday markets: Thanksgiving in November (date TBD) and Christmas in December (date TBD).
Stop on by, you will be glad you did!

The Caswell County Local Food Council provides a complimentary lunch for the community on the third Wednesday of each month. Locally grown ingredients are featured in the meal and the event often includes a community member group providing updates and details on their activities.
Be a part of building a stronger Caswell by supporting the weekly Donation Station at the market. In 2026, the Caswell County Farmers Market will once again include a Donation Station that assists both our farmers and the hungry. Shoppers are welcome to provide funds or purchase fresh food for the food pantry at the market and present it to their table each week.
Each week the food council provides $100 to the Donation Station pantry of the week to be used to purchase farm fresh food from the farmer vendors. The pantries then distribute the fresh food to those in need. The Caswell County Local Food Council funds the station via small grants and donations.
Currently Caswell County has several food banks that collect and distribute food to those in need. They are Caswell Parish, County Outreach Ministry, High Street Baptist Church, Locust Hill UMC, Piedmont Community College and Shady Grove UMC.
